TRUCKS!

Hi - new member here!

I'm on the hunt for a truck appropriate for hauling horses. My horse is 1100lbs, and I'll likely just be hauling him. I'm thinking of a steel tag-along (vs gosseneck) trailer vs aluminum, but am open to suggestion (Brederrup is not an option).

Thanks in advance for the input!

A simple 1/2 ton pickup should haul 1-2 horses with no problem. I even hauled a two-horse with a huge dressing room behind my 6 cylinder Jeep four-door for years. (not a truck at all)
A powerful 6 or small V8 should do the job. With the Jeep I did have a load-leveler hitch to prevent sway and keep the front wheels on the ground properly.
I've graduated to a GMC duelly with the biggest engine available and a 6 horse with dressing and tack rooms. How I miss those Jeep days!
Oh, if you are buying new, tell the dealer you will be hauling and they may suggest a different rear end configuration for towing.
